Windows In, Warmer For Winter
What a busy time.
I spend Sunday covering my ceiling panels with plastic sheeting to follow good building practise. This will prevent any condensation forming between the insulating panels.
My windows guy, let me down but as the plastic was going on, we’d have got in each other’s way. I was with my friend the architect who is a good few years older than me so I did the physical stuff like stapleing it onto the beams and climbing up and down the ladder. I was exhausted at the end of the day.
Monday saw an early start, the windows man was coming at 8.30 and I wanted to make sure that the animals were feeling safe and out of the way. The windows man was late but not by much.
He arrived with his installation partner and I made them a quick coffee with the mokka stove top maker.
I left them to it and tried to carry on as normal, working etc. I always get nervous and twitchy when things are being done in the house. I can’t relax at all. The windows men were worn out at the end of the day. They’d tidied and cleaned and all that remained was a veil of dust. After they left I cleaned that up. The main guy was returning in the morning to put the handles on and do some minor finishing. He will be back after Christmas with my new door and some beading to complete the job.
My house is much cosier. I not exaggerating when I say that I’m thrilled. The panels have already changed the atmosphere and the windows have stopped the draughts.
I’ll take a photo soon and post it but I’m still feeling worn out from fitting the plastic the other day.
It’s going to be a good week. I’m off to Ikea in a few days, searching for some blinds and other things to show off my new ceilings and windows. I’m also going to be looking for Christmas things ao I’ll share those with you later on.
Meanwhile temperatures have dropped here. Snow has been forecast a couple of times but not materialised. My bedroom which would normally have been around 6 degrees, is 13 without any central heating. It’s not hot but certainly not cold. I’m feeling content!
