Transforming My Old Stone House into a Cosy Art Studio for Christmas

As the Christmas season approaches, I have begun on a project to transform my art studio into a warm and inviting cosy retreat, just in time for Christmas. As my creativity works better when I’m contented in my surroundings, the goal is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where I can fully immerse myself in my creative process.

First and foremost, I am focusing on lighting up the rooms. Natural light is essential for any artist, so I am maximizing it by painting the ceilings white and defining the old chestnut wood lintels above the windows. These were covered in plaster badly in the past and I am exposing them again to create a clean shape to my windows.

To enhance the cosy ambiance, I plan to hang fairy lights along the furniture and wood of the studio and place a few strategically positioned lamps to create a warm glow in the evenings.

I also need to turn my attention to the furniture. Comfort is key, so I am opting for cosy cushions and hand knit blankets and covers for a comfortable sofa where I can relax and gather inspiration. I recently added a cosy rug to soften the terracotta floor and provide a warm and inviting feel and I plan to weave more for my bedroom too.

To add a touch of Christmas magic, I am decorating the studio with festive accents. I will hang a wreath on the door and place a small Christmas tree in one corner, adorned with twinkling lights and pretty ornaments. I will also incorporate scented candles with seasonal fragrances of cinnamon and pine to create a cosy and inviting aroma.

Finally, I am adding some personal touches to make the space truly my own. I will hang my  artwork on the walls and display cherished mementos and trinkets on shelves and tables. These personal touches will not only inspire me but also create a warm and welcoming environment for anyone who visits my art studio.
