In my household, Friday night is pizza night and has been for a couple of years.

Now, I was taught how to make a pizza from scratch by an old Italian lady but to be honest, on Friday nights, we buy one from the local supermarket and pop it in the oven. That means that we can eat together and I don’t spend all evening kneading dough and being the last on to eat my, now cold, home made pizza. Don’t get me wrong, we do love our home made pizza nights but only do it a couple of times a year these days.

We love our Friday night pizza. It is the end of the week and our treat. We have some beer, which is how the Italian eat their pizza, no wine, just a bottle of beer and we have a family night.

There isn’t a lot to say about today. I managed to paint a robin. I haven’t painted for over a week and it is a real love of mine. I thought I’d do something relatively straight forward just to get back into it again. It didn’t quite go the way I’d hoped but then again with watercolour, things normally go their own way.

Tommorow being Saturday, I still have to work but I was hoping to get into my garden to tidy it up. I have been working on my garden for 5 years and it has gone from disaster to a peaceful space. I still have loads to do to get it to the way I’d really like it but I can use it and relax in it now instead of always digging and building.

Unfortunately, heavy rain has been forecast so I’m guessing I’ll be going out there the next day if it all goes off. It’s the prefect time to work on it just now as from July onwards it was so hot. We had an exceptionally hot and dry summer. I worked on my garden up until the end of June and then a bit in July but it was hard and one evening I nearly fainted because I hadn’t drunk enough water.

It truly is a very peaceful space though and I will tell you the story of my garden one of these days.

It isn’t a huge space, but it’s been a huge amount of work for me these last few years.

Ooh, we managed to order our winter wood today. Our wood guy told us that we were silly for leaving it so late. We have, in fact been trying to get him to deliver it for the last couple of months. Oh well, that’s Italy for you!
