Choosing Colours

I don’t know why it’s so hard to choose a colour for my new windows. I received a message today from my friend, an architect who’s co-ordinating the production of my new windows. We’d spoken about a blue grey which is quite a traditional colour. The carpenter said that varnish would cost more but I’d already made up my mind on a painted finish.

The photo sample sent to me was too dark. I love the bluey grey greens that you see in France but you don’t see them here. Only browns, greens and the dark blue grey. I decided to do a research online to find the perfect colour. After an hour and a half, I was still searching. Why can’t I find the right shade. I don’t want the colour to be too dark because I don’t want it to appear dark on the inside. I paint and want as much light as possible.

After much too-ing and fro-ing I was sent a photo of a previous client’s windows. Bingo, I loved the shade and so my friend is on the case to find out the colour and get mine painted just the same, or at least I hope it will be. My house is old and I really think that it will get a quaint rustic elegance that the current 1970’s job lot of aluminium windows just don’t manage.

Fuelled with enthusiasm I am now searching co-ordinating shades to bring to life some vintage furniture. All of this combined with my work, still panelling my ceilings (son’t nearly finished and mine started) my rustic home is going to be wonderful. Hopefully just in time for Christmas.

I did one of my famous fried rices for dinner I should have made more!
