Deliveries And Covid
As you may have guessed, getting supplies or special items here in my hamlet and the nearest town is not quite as straight forward as it is in a bigger city or town.
I have always wanted a good camera and have, luckily, just been able to buy one. I did some research and found the best deal on Amazon. So, I ordered it after a bit of faffing, and the confirmation said that it would be delivered, well, tomorrow, Friday, (I ordered it on Tuesday!).
Imagine my surprise when I found that it was out for delivery today. My excitement built as much as I would allow it to. I have lived here too long to believe everything the tracking number tells me. The day after I bought my new camera, I bought an sd card so that I could start taking photos straight away. The card was supposed to be delivered today but as happens regularly, it didn’t get here. It was out for delivery, briefly, but then went back to being in transit.
Normally when this happens the tracking is updated to say that there was nobody at home, it’s a bit worrying until you get used to it and it will probably be delivered tomorrow.
Back to my camera! Even though my phone number was on the package, the courier rang one of my daughters and she was told that he would leave it at a bar in the nearest town. We normally have to go out every day, today included, but it would be much better if the courier would ask if he could leave it and not that he just has left it. Happily, I got my new camera in the evening and as I had to charge it up for a few hours, I wouldn’t have been able to take any photos anyway, so it doesn’t really matter that my new sd card didn’t come.

This week, I also ordered some underwear from an Italian business. I normally shop locally in a near town (not the nearest!) and find something I like but there wasn’t much choice so, again, the internet came to my rescue.
Amazon failed me on this occasion so I made my purchase with an Italian onine shop. It was delivered today, in a pretty box too, a welcome change from the brown smiley ones. I have made a few purchases outside of Amazon, online over the last couple of years. They have been from small Italian businesses, some who have been online for some years, as in the case of my underwear. Others only started trading online during the Covid pandemic. I have had no problems whatsoever. Orders have been promptly delivered and I could see that care had been taken over my orders.
I have just taken my camera off charge and I’ll try to set it up ready for tomorrow. I wanted a good camera to get better pictures for my art work so I’m excited at being able to take that up a notch or two. I also wanted a cute, little, dinky one that would be easy to carry so I opted for the Olympus Pen. Perhaps I’ll crochet a camera bag!
My dose of reality today has come in the form of my daughter who has a raging sore throat. We’re hoping it’s not the dreaded Covid her temperature’s fine for now. We all have so much to do and none of us, want to go down with anything. She’s doing a test tomorrow so here’s hoping it’s a negative result!
