What I Should Call This Blog
I should call this blog what I do after work! This, as some of you may know, is because I work every day.
Today, after work, I went down to my garden and weeded for a short time. My main purpose of going into my garden was to fetch my step ladders. I wanted to start the work on insulating my ceilings. I sat to drink in my marvelous view and could feel the warmth of the sun on my face until a deep voiced buzzy thing decided to dive bomb my hair.I am usually okay with buzzy things but I couldn’t see this one and it sounded big so I ran, trying to look graceful, after all you never know if anyone can see you do you? I only ran a couple of steps and thought I’d be safe but it had followed me! I had to run faster and a bit further to shake it off. I wasn’t expecting such an adventure in my quiet garden nor did I want such an adventure. Time to go back inside with my ladders.
I had decided to start the work on my ceilings after lunch. Being the weekend, I work less on work stuff and more on house things. After lunch I made our usual espresso in the moka and decided to wait 5 minutes for it all to go down. During this 5 minutes, my daughters decided to have a trip down memory lane, watching old videos of when they were little. I watched for a bit before realizing that a whole hour had gone by.
I eventually started the job. I’m fitting polystyrene insulating panels on the upstairs ceilings of the older part of my house. I will be having a chap fit some plasterboard over them and it should look very good as well as being efficient in keeping the heat in in winter and out in summer. This is all being combined with getting some new windows put in so I’m hoping for a cozy winter this year, instead of ice on the insides of my windows. I also would like to spend more time in my art studio which is often too cold to work in.
I was getting on very well with my panels and gaining speed when, my saw ran out of charge. Grrrrrr. How annoying. I had not expected the job to be a quick one and I had made more progress than I thought but to run out of charge just when I was going along nicely was a blow. I’d hoped to get an hour and a half more time in. I tried cutting the panels to size with my craft knife but it was slow going and it made more mess. I decided to stop for the day and carry on tomorrow.
Now, tomorrow is going to be frustrating because I have been invited to a morning coffee by a friend. Then I have to work and after that I’ve promised to do something with one of my daughters so it will be a late start. I hope I get on quickly.
I’ll take some photos for tomorrow’s entry. I’m hoping to have both before and after of at least one room but we’ll see!
