Travelled to Milan today to go to a concert tomorrow night! The train connects at Florence to go to Milan and it takes longer to travel from North Tuscany to Florence than it does to travel from Florence to Milan on a high speed Italo train.

I went with one of my daughters and we felt like a treat so as there were offers on, we went first class which means more space and snacks and drinks.

The journey was very smooth as it normally is. I love rail travel I feel as though I’m really travelling. More scenery than a quick flight, and I normally meet some lovely people.

Our hotel for the first night was a lovely one just outside of Milan. As there is a very good metro, it’s quite easy and quick to get to. After checking in, dropping off our bags and having a quick rest, it was off again to have a potter around the shops. We’re not here on a shopping trip but a bit of window shopping for future ideas is wonderful. Back to our hotel for a posh dinner!

Tomorrow we are doing more touristy things and so it should be interesting and fun. Later we’ll check into another hotel before going to our concert.

Back home on Saturday but at the pace we’ve made today I’m sure we’ll need another, more relaxing break.
