Day one of a fairly busy week and it begins with a visit to a piercing studio with my daughter and friends for piercings.

They are very popular here in Italy along with tattoos. Yes I was surprised too and it’s not just young people. There are people of all ages who have tattoos and go for more.

The studio decor is not at all what I would normally think of as piercing and tattoo studio decor. The staff were knowledgeable, efficient and very clean. They gave good advice and are also available by text if there are any questions or issues.

The place was clean and bright and not at all like I imagined a tattoo / piercing parlour to be like, you know a bit dark and dingy. There were even chandeliers!!!

The place is run by two sisters, one the piercer, the other tattooist with a chap being brought in from Pisa every week for tongues! You pay typically 30 – 50 € for a piercing with tattoos being on request as they are normally personalised designs.

Just one thing to add, no numbing. The piercings are made with out any kind of numbing of the area so an element of courage is needed!

As life here tends to be busy at times, after the piercing we had to go to check and tidy a house that some friends are setting up for rental. Our years of living here is seen as very useful and we are only too pleased to help out.
