Not much to report today, certainly no flat tyres and rescue missions!
A very quiet day after work. I am working on a knitting pattern so I swapped in knitting for painting since my art studio was being used by my daughter to host a dinner for her friends in honour of one of them who is visiting from Milan.
The menu? Waffle starters with an Italian tomato sauce, lasagne and tiramisu.
We are huge fans of not buying any food in packets because home made is always more nutricious and you can have fun cooking.
In our zone here in Italy, lasagne or (le lasagne), is considered a very special meal and is very often served for special occasions. As neither I nor one of my daughters eats meat, two lasagne were made one with a sugo (meat sauce) and a veggie one. As my other daughter, not the one hosting the dinner, is a qualified Italian chef, she made the sugo for the meat eaters.
The non chef daughter made the veggie one and assembled the lasagne for the oven. We also had a real treat of home made tiramisu which translates as pick me up well throw me up really, from one of the friends who came early just to make it and demonstrate the method.
I have to say the tiramisu was delicious and really did tiramisu!
Now, Italians don’t think that we foreigners can cook very well but the compliments were coming at us after the dinner with a special mention for my son’s birthday cake which was sampled by our guests a day earlier.
Recipes to come over the coming days. We use fresh lasagne sheets as they are fast to cook and don’t need to be pre-boiled. Also they taste better!
I’m still working on the appearance of my blog and organise my photos so I’m not quite in the blogging routine yet but I have stuck to writing a bit every day. Yay me!
