Beautiful Walk And Amazing Sunset

I seem to be writing every other day at the moment due mainly to the fact that I blog right at the end of the day and I get tired!

I did have a good day yesterday and managed to do more painting. This afternoon though I went for a walk around my tiny village, well hamlet and the sunset was amazing.

At this time of year there are chestnuts just falling out of the trees along with the golden leaves . The chestnuts used to form a large part of the peasant diet in days gone by. The chestnut baked goodies are now considered to be a treat by the locals. Some are good but can be an acquired taste for those who aren’t used to the distinctive chestnut flavour.

On the way back, there was the most amazing sunset. The sky was just beautiful. Peachy, golden, blue and orange. I managed to get some stunning photos with my new camera.

We later discovered that this evening had one of the two double sunsets that this area experiences per year.

Near to us is a mountain with a hole, Monte Forato. It is quite spectacular. You can walk up to it. The walk is mostly through woods and is not very spectacular but the novelty of reaching the hole is good.

I actually took a photo of it this evening, not realising that today was double sunset day!

It’s not great quality as I’ve had to zoom right in but the sun is lined up with the hole and goes down, only to emerge again through the hole and to seemingly set again. I must try to remember for the next time which is the end of January. Wait though, maybe tomorrow it might just be close! Not that I’ll see it as I’m off for a walk in nearby San Pelegrino In Alpe. I haven’t been there for a few years. I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.

I’ve written this in the wrong order. I managed to do a spot of painting in my studio before the walk today. Only about an hour, but I worked on the natural Santa and it’s better. Good enough to have been made into some cards.

I also started my illustrations for the book series. I’ve a lot to do for that but I’m on my way, so watch this space!
